2009 Competition and Results

After a great fianl competition at Century III Mall, April 25th, 2009, the competition results are:

1st Place - Plum HS; Team:  2 Intense;  Robot:   Aftershock
(*Traveling trophy designed by Kurt J. Lesker Company and Hamill Manufacturing Company *ribbons, plaque, and $1000 scholarship from the Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Tooling and Machining Association (NTMA) for the team to compete at the NTMA's National Competition next weekend (May 1-3) at the Mall of America in Minneapolis, MN.)

2nd Place - Fayette County AVTS;  Team:  Grave Diggers;  Robot:: Grim Reaper
(*Ribbons, plaque, and $1000 scholarship from the Pittsburgh Chapter of the NTMA to attend the national competition.)

Coolest Bot - West Mifflin Area HS;  Tteam: XLR8ED;  Robot:  DOOMSDAY
(*Voted on by the students.)

Best Engineered Bot - Plum HS;  Team: Intensity;  Robot:  Still in Shock
(*Voted on by the Safety Committee.)

Best Engineering Documentation - Somerset County Technology Center;  Team Masters of Mischief;  Robot:  Mischief
(*Every team was interviewed at Cal U and asked to present its extensive documentation. This award was determined by the Cal U professors and other industry volunteers who did the interviewing.)

Best Sportsmanship - West Mifflin Area HS;  Team XLR8ED;  Robot:  DOOMSDAY (*Voted on by the students.)

King of the Ring - Steel Center AVTS; Team: Steel Center Scorpions;  Robot: XQSNR
(*The winner of the final rumble.)
